It would be very very important.An example would be when you don’t want to buy a car that has not been maintained well because of stricter smog laws.  I get cars in all the time while checking them at my San Diego smog check shop who fail because of improper maintenance. Cars that get tuneups regularly would most probably be the cars that will pas these smog tests.  Cars that have been neglected are the ones that fail.
